Facial Treatments

One of the most common procedures performed at a spa is the facial. But what is a facial?

A facial is a skin treatment that cleanses pores, exfoliates dead skin cells and treats common skin concerns with a custom mask. This process rejuvenates and nourishes the face to give a more youthful appearance.

So what actually happens during a facial?

There is usually an initial skin evaluation to determine the right products for your skin type. Then the therapist will apply a cleanser to the face and neck to erase your makeup and dirt particles. The cleanser is then removed with warm water.

Next, the skin is exfoliated to remove dead skin cells with an exfoliating cream. The therapist may also open up pores with steam.

In some cases the therapist may perform an extraction procedure. This process is done to clear individual pores that have become clogged with excess oil or dead skin cells, which can form blackheads and acne. The process can be performed manually or with a special metal tool.

A facial typically also includes a massage of the face and neck region. The therapist will complete the facial procedure by applying a mask to the face. Finally serum, moisturizer and sunscreen is usually applied to the face to avoid sun damage

There are several different types of facial such as the hydrating, brightening facial, hydra facial procedure and even the Vampire facial that uses the client’s own blood to stimulate facial collagen production and give a more youthful appearance to the face.

Go see your therapist today for a refreshing facial procedure. You will be glad you did.
